Trezor Suite with MetaMask Integration
Trezor Suite is the official interface for managing your Trezor hardware wallet, while MetaMask is a popular browser extension for interacting with Ethereum-based applications. By integrating your Trezor with MetaMask, you get the best of both worlds: Trezor’s hardware-level security and MetaMask’s Web3 connectivity.
Why Integrate Trezor with MetaMask?
Using Trezor with MetaMask allows you to:
- Access DeFi apps and NFT platforms while keeping private keys offline
- Approve transactions on your Trezor, adding an extra layer of security
- Prevent phishing and hacks, since your keys never leave the device
MetaMask alone stores private keys in the browser, which can be risky. When paired with Trezor, your keys stay protected inside the hardware wallet, even when using MetaMask to sign transactions.
How to Connect Trezor to MetaMask
- Install MetaMask in your browser (Chrome, Brave, Firefox).
- Open MetaMask and click on your profile icon.
- Select “Connect Hardware Wallet.”
- Choose Trezor and follow the prompts.
- Unlock your Trezor and export the public keys when asked.
- Select the account(s) you want to use, then click “Unlock.”
Your Trezor-backed Ethereum address will now appear in MetaMask. You can use it like a normal MetaMask account, but all approvals must be confirmed on your Trezor.
Tips for Secure Usage
- Only approve transactions after verifying details on your Trezor screen.
- Keep both MetaMask and Trezor Suite updated.
- Never reveal your recovery seed — neither MetaMask nor any app should ask for it.
